Dr. Mary completed post-graduate work in Animal Chiropractic in 2007, and she is now a Certified Animal Chiropractor (CAC). This newly emerging field is sanctioned by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association, and she has met all their stringent requirements for accreditation. At the same time, the actual practice of Animal Chiropractic by chiropractors in Texas is possible by agreement between the Texas Veterinary Board and the Texas Chiropractic Board.
Dr. Mary also practices Network on our animal companions. They love the gentle touches and relaxing effects. Because Network does not require actual structural manipulation, horses in particular find it very calming, although canines who are lucky enough to receive regular care often go to sleep after the first couple of contacts. Their nervous systems learn strategies of relaxation and calm just as ours do.
Many horse caretakers utilize Network for horses who have gait changes or who are just not performing at their best. Dr. Mary works on all types of performance horses as well as personal "backyard" horses, and they all improve their performance and/or outlook with Network Care.
Often animals integrate subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, trauma, into their nervous systems and perspectives. This can account for many behavioral changes that they develop as protective or survival mechanisms. Sometimes humans are frustrated by the nervousness their four-legged companions display. Network can restore trust again to the human-animal bond.
Dr. Mary has a number of dogs she sees in her Austin practice, and others she treats on a house-call basis. She also makes barn calls for horses, and is developing a facility to see dogs, horses, and people at her home near Oatmeal, Texas.
She has found that "anything with a heartbeat" can benefit from Network, and has been lucky enough to share her gifts with cats, birds, and even a pet rat!
